MHF Studios in Tibro
Tommy moved to Skaraborg at the age of 18, and after living in a few different places in the region, he eventually settled in Tibro. He describes having had many different jobs around Skaraborg, but when he bought a drone ten years ago and started filming with it, something clicked.
“Back then, more people knew who ‘Drone Tommy’ was than who Tommy Abrahamsson was,” Tommy laughs.
After filming from the air for a couple of years, Tommy acquired equipment to film on the ground as well. His number of assignments grew, and soon he was able to make a living from his film productions.
At the same time, something else was happening.
“After the pandemic, MHF concluded that there was a need for more digital information rather than physical events. They also had a physical magazine, Motorföraren, which involved high production and distribution costs, and they wanted to replace it with digital content. One step in that direction was this studio,” says Tommy.
In 2024, MHF – the Swedish National Association for Sobriety in Road Traffic – moved its entire head office from Stockholm to Tibro, where the organisation’s company, MHF Test Lab, was already based. The organisation has a clear goal: that no one should die from drunk driving.
The studio is part of MHF Test Lab, and the company’s manager contacted Tommy to get some advice.
“We started talking more and more, and when the studio was launched, I began working here on an hourly basis—but it soon turned into a full-time position,” says Tommy.
Today, he is the production manager for the studio and leads its operations.
The studio includes several different environments: a news studio, a lounge area where panel discussions can be held, and a green screen studio where virtual environments can be created as desired.
You can come in with an idea - we’ll take care of the rest!
“It’s something close to my heart”
The studio is used both for MHF’s own broadcasts and is also rented out to other organisations that want a professional studio. Working with different companies and operations is something Tommy enjoys.
“The different environments mean we can be both efficient and flexible. And we like to help! You can come in with an idea - we’ll take care of the rest! It’s fun to be involved and to hear about things that you might not otherwise be close to. Last week we had a neuroscience researcher in the studio - what she talked about was incredibly interesting!” says Tommy.

In addition to taking on external assignments, Tommy spends most of his working days producing Trafikdax, which is released every other week and broadcast on open channels across the country as well as online. For Tommy, it is important to work for an organisation whose purpose is to reduce alcohol-related accidents in traffic.
“I have a personal background that makes it especially important for me to work with these issues—it’s something I care deeply about. Knowing that my work can help reduce problems in society feels very good,” says Tommy.
More and more people are discovering the possibilities
Tibro is a small town with just over 11,000 inhabitants. Many people are initially surprised to find a studio of this capacity here.
“Tibro isn’t a place where you’d expect to find such a large studio, but more and more people are discovering the opportunities we offer,” says Tommy.
Tommy himself is very pleased to have his dream job close to home.
“I love living in Tibro, you’re close to everything here! I have five children, four of whom still live at home, and we enjoy going down to the river to fish or heading out into the forest to barbecue. On weekends, we often take trips to the neighbouring municipalities of Hjo or Karlsborg. There are lots of activities organised around Skaraborg. It’s a great place to be,” Tommy concludes.
About MHF
MHF is a non-profit road safety organization that primarily works to promote sober driving. Since its founding in 1926, MHF has, among other things, contributed to the introduction of right-hand traffic, legally enforced low blood alcohol limits, and the use of seat belts. MHF has its own zero-vision for traffic: no one should die due to drunk driving.
MHF’s national office is located in Tibro, where efforts are coordinated and administered to ensure that no one dies from drunk driving. Functions at the office include finance, projects, communication, membership services, and international driving permits.
Tibro is also home to the MHF Test Lab, which offers testing services for alcohol measurement products for, among others, manufacturers and authorities.
