Green industries thrive in Skaraborg
Skaraborg has more than 10 percent of Sweden’s food production. No wonder it’s also where much of the industry’s development takes place!
Agriculture is a cornerstone of Skaraborg’s labor market. It not only has a long agricultural tradition, but also one of innovation, development and enterprise linked to the green industries.
Today, around one quarter of Sweden’s total food production is located in Västra Götaland, and half of this is in Skaraborg. Skaraborg is also home to the municipality which, relative to its population, produces the most food in the entire country.
Today, there are more than 4,000 agricultural companies in Skaraborg. There are also several major food producers, making the journey from farm to fork a short one. Thanks to the sound experience and expertise of its farmers, Skaraborg also has the courage to do things in new ways.
In a world that focuses on sustainability and climate-smart solutions, agriculture will be essential for enabling our green transition. Agriculture has become a high-tech industry where the smart use of resources and sustainable solutions go hand-in-hand with innovations such as drone technology, precision cultivation and AI-controlled machines.
